The Ultimate Solution for Efficient Interpreter Scheduling.
Product Design, Design System
Working seamlessly with a development team in a distributed agile environment, Lbi led product design for TransPerfect's Interact - a flexible, highly efficient, and beautifully designed interpreter scheduling system.
Interact caters to multiple user types, each with unique privileges and a personalized experience. Project managers wield the power to create new appointments and seamlessly add interpreters to projects based on their availability.
Meanwhile, interpreters enjoy a dedicated dashboard where they can effortlessly view all their ongoing projects at a glance and even apply for exciting new opportunities.
Interact offers both PM's and interpreters the flexibility to access their projects in a way that suits them best – either through a convenient list view or an organized calendar view.
Inside each project, PMs are provided with a comprehensive overview of all interpreters involved. They can effortlessly access interpreters' scheduled dates, track project completion status, and enjoy the flexibility to make modifications as needed.
With Interact, we ensure that users can effortlessly connect and collaborate with one another, making communication an integral part of the scheduling process.
And when it comes to submitting and approving invoices, Interact simplifies the process for both interpreters and project managers with user-friendly tools.
Behind The Scenes
Product design is about understanding the intended audience's needs, pain points, and requirements. In the case of Interact, our primary audience consisted of project managers seeking a flexible system to efficiently schedule and manage a large number of interpretation appointments.
To eliminate any possible misunderstandings and ensure alignment, we initiated the design process by conducting initial stakeholder interviews. These interviews aimed to clarify product requirements, features, functionality, and behavior, ensuring that everyone was on the same page from the start.
Through active listening and empathy, we gained better understanding of user issues at an early stage. This allowed us to prioritize product usability and features effectively, bringing clarity to the project's scope and timeline. By incorporating user insights, we ensured that our design efforts were focused on meeting the users' needs and delivering a better product.
During this phase, we also discovered that Interact needed to cater to three distinct types of users: Project Managers, Interpreters (Vendors), and Clients. Understanding these diverse user groups helped us tailor the product's design to meet the specific needs and expectations of each category, resulting in a more inclusive and user-friendly experience for all.
Indeed, accommodating three different user types introduced a new level of complexity to the project. Interact now needed to be even more flexible and adaptable to meet diverse scheduling needs, handle client requests, facilitate approvals, and manage interpreter availability both in person and online.
This complexity challenged our design team to create a robust and seamless system that could efficiently address the various requirements of each user group while maintaining a cohesive and user-friendly interface. Despite the challenges, our commitment to delivering an exceptional product experience remained unwavering.
